EP 54: REDEFINING GIRL MATH WITH EMMA PRATT
In this episode Emma Pratt, Co-founder of Girl Math shares how the three co-founders came together to teach women investing skills that redefine “girl math.” Recently partnered with Ellevest, they take a holistic approach to building an investment portfolio that includes angel investing. Their program begins with annual cohorts featuring leading experts in investing. Once members have completed the cohort they join a community of like-minded women who are taking the first steps as investors or expanding their investing acumen.
Emma Pratt, the co-founder of Girl Math Capital, a rapidly growing community designed to expand women’s access to alternative investing across angel, real estate, and crypto. She leads education, deal flow, and community strategy while actively investing in better-for-you consumer brands such as Ghia, Vacation, and Realm. Prior to building Girl Math Capital full-time, Emma worked in M&A and Strategic Finance at Uber and began her career in investment banking at Bank of America. She graduated magna cum laude from Vanderbilt University with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Business.
Girl Math Capital stemmed from a shared frustration about the accessibility of alternative investing for women. Co-founder Serena’s insight into the barriers women face in engaging with angel investing, real estate syndicates, and other personal finance avenues resonated deeply with fellow co-founders Emma and Porter, who recognized that while they shared the same interests as their male counterparts, the conversation surrounding these opportunities often felt gatekept.
Girl Math Capital seeks to bridge this gap by fostering a judgement-free space where women can learn about and gain access to alternative investing. Through educational resources and supportive networking, our community aims to democratize investing knowledge, providing women with the tools to confidently engage in discussions that previously seemed out of reach.
Cohorts meet on a bi-weekly basis to learn from distinguished investors and founders in their areas of interest.
